I think if this health care bill doesn't pass and obama can't put together so un-yet discovered entirely different piece of leg or drastically cut unemployment before the 2012 primaries(which really start in 2011), he'll lose them to Hilary who would then, again in my opinion, lose to like a palin/romney ticket. I fault him and/or his team for pushing for health care reform in the first term. he should have stuck with what got him elected, financial reform, the war on terror and climate change. then in the 2nd term you come out and say i want to see single payer with federal money for abortions and suck it to everybody else. I think this bill and now specifically this stupak crap is way more politically expensive than he can afford. I think as the sort of pragmatic humanist that I am politically, that this bill needs to pass with or without the stupak amend. i blame it in simple terms as the group think that feels as some wrote recently in the ny times, not to pick on them it's just what I've been reading but I see even in like mad men, that the 60's are back with the implication that obama=jfk and is thus fated to the same end so why not go for all you can while he's in office and i do agree that health care reform is the most historic/important piece of leg (at least like top 3)that he'll ever pass but not to go all snl on you but jay-z=the beatles really!!? maybe t. swift fits in a little more in the 60's vain but I'm sorry did I miss the r.crumb cover art on a single of hers or what. and didn't they say that in the 90's with the seattle scene and didn't they say that the guys who wrote my sharonona in the 80's are the next lennon/mccartney and didn't freakin lennon say about david bowie in the glam rock era it's still rock and roll just with lipstick? At worst the 60's never went away and at best it's ingrained in the culture and likely from before that generation as well, see the book the movement of the free spirit if you want to go back a few hundred years to start with. I hope the bill passes and obama stays inside for most of his days that he can. But make no doubt if this stupak amend passes, the women's right movement takes a huge hit but you know the repubs will have a strong and war hawk candidate in 2012.

since you asked the other thing that's got me talking to myself is this French book that wants Heidegger’s philosophy texts categorized as Nazi works, which well, has been an undercurrent movement for a while but seems like this may be the first or most reputable voice in the debate about what to make of the big H's role in Hitler's germany. to recap, he fired all the jews from the philosophy department which he headed. he resigned from Hitler's party sometime before the official start of the war. and like a tribunal or something said he couldn't teach ever again. which sucks for them because he's still required reading for most any general philo degree or study of 20th century or existentialism or post-modernism. in short he makes a lot of top 5 of all time lists with like plato.

radio free europe is kick ass song, in case you've missed it. my friend lilly hiatt has got a sweet new band together. i managed to get the band hers opened for's memo about what attire to wear that night. it was funny darker jeans, tucked in longs sleeve black shirt. like rock stars trying to look like actors on their days off. but we all rocked the look. Lilly's band doens't have a name yet but, I always thought her last band shake go home would've been one of the bigger acts in town had they not broke up and I feel the same way about this new one. her dad john hiatt is one of my favs and some of his singer/songwriter skills seem to have passed down and then you add this almost grungy rock band sound, it's very appealing.
